Cross Key Wastewater District

Cross Key is a small island located at Mile Marker 112.5 along the 18-Mile stretch.  The approximately 20.7 acre island is comprised of a mix of commercial and residential parcels, including marinas, single-family residences and recreational vehicle parks.

Wastewater Facilities

Construction of the central wastewater system is ongoing. The system consists of a 40,000 gallon per day Modified Ludzak–Ettinger Process (MLE) Wastewater Treatment Plant located on Hazel Street.  Wastewater flows will be delivered to the plant through a low-pressure collection system with grinder pump stations.  The influent will be treated to Best Available Treatment Standards (BAT) achieving  a 97% reduction in CBOD and TSS, an 81% reduction in total nitrogen and a 90% reduction in Total Phosphorous, prior to disposal down a Class V injection well.
