The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority have suspended work replacing the main water supply transmission and the rolling lane closure on U.S. 1 in Windley Key until Sunday, July 28.
The closure went into effect Tuesday, July 23, as the Florida Keys are being impacted by many visitors for the two-day spiny lobster mini-season on Wednesday, July 24, and Thursday, July 25. Suspending the rolling lane closure is meant to ease traffic congestion and the potential for accidents.
With 2,790 feet of pipe in the ground, crews have already installed more than 36% of the new transmission main in Windley Key.
